AtGames Expands its Distribution of SEGA Products to its MP3-Game Platform MUGA
Los Angeles, CA (PRWeb) January 5, 2007 -- AtGames® Holdings Ltd. (www.atgames.net) today announced that it entered into a distribution agreement with SEGA® Corporation. Under the distribution agreement, SEGA has granted AtGames the right to distribute by download certain SEGA game software products to AtGames’ patent-pending MP3-Game Platform MUGA™ throughout the world.
This distribution agreement, together with the granting of certain OEM-bundle rights in the earlier Exclusive Distribution Agreement between SEGA and AtGames, allow AtGames’ MUGA™ devices to access certain SEGA game products covering SEGA Master System, SEGA GAME GEAR, Genesis/MEGA DRIVE, and certain other SEGA and non-SEGA platforms. It further establishes SEGA’s commitment to expand the distribution of SEGA game products throughout the world across a wide range of distribution channels and emerging technologies.
“We are enthusiastic about the addition of SEGA products to our innovative MUGA™ platform. This new collaboration builds on the mutual appreciation and trust between our two companies and the successful business established since the earlier Exclusive Distribution Agreement. I thank the dedication and accomplishment of the teams on both sides,” said Dr. Ping-Kang Hsiung, founder and CEO of AtGames. “We are excited about this opportunity to establish SEGA's brand in the market of MP3 and look forward to being able to reach a whole new audience through the efforts of AtGames,” said Hiroshi Seno of Licensing Department, Sega Corporation.
Under the distribution agreement, AtGames will have the right to distribute in the world certain SEGA game software products suitable for downloading to AtGames’ MUGA™ platform devices. The games will include, among others, certain Java and BREW games published by SEGA for mobile phones and PDA. MUGA™ is AtGames’ patent-pending platform allowing MP3 music and games to be played simultaneously.
In the earlier Exclusive Distribution Agreement, SEGA granted AtGames the exclusive right to sell certain SEGA software products for SEGA’s proprietary platforms (e.g., SEGA Master System, SEGA GAME GEAR, SEGA GENESIS (MEGA DRIVE) System, SEGA SATURN System, SEGA 32X, SEGA CD and SEGA Dreamcast System) bundled together with an emulator for these SEGA proprietary platforms to original equipment manufacturers, chip makers and other product manufacturers in Greater China. In turn, these original equipment manufacturers, chip makers and other product manufacturers will incorporate these bundles into products for sale throughout the world.
